Developing a people first culture at Fortytwo.

We sat down with Lara d’Aniello, HR and Office Manager at Fortytwo to get some insights on how important employee wellbeing is. This blog dives into Lara’s positive attitude and challenges in driving a company through change, she also talks us through the initiatives that are in place and future ones to come.

Q: How has your approach to employee wellbeing evolved since you joined?

A: As soon as I became a part of this company, the Company was going through organisational change. My primary goal was to sit down and hear each one of the employees personally. It is vital that the employees feel listened to. Afterward, I explained a philosophy to them, and it states that change lies in one's perspective. If we devote all our time focusing on the negative aspects of change, we are ignoring the opportunity to create something beautiful.

Q: How do you balance business goals with employee wellbeing?

A: One of my colleagues described me as the “steering wheel” of the company. An engine may start with fuel and a battery, but without a steering wheel, it has no direction. In the same way, I believe HR helps guide the organisation by creating alignment, trust, and clear communication between people and the business. The health and happiness of the team are viewed as the primary drivers of sustainable success. Without the team I have today and the management team that works so hard, the Company would not be where it is today. I feel very proud of the team we became.

Q: What does employee wellbeing mean at Fortytwo?

A: Well-being amongst employees at Fortytwo is highly valued. We have various health benefits and programs offered to employees. Life can be really hectic, therefore, we always aim at making sure we maintain work-life balance. Flexibility to working parents is offered. Hybrid work arrangement is allowed if it aligns with Company requirements. Beyond traditional benefits, the physical and social environment at Fortytwo is designed to inspire. From ergonomic office equipment to dedicated entertainment areas and team-building activities, the focus remains on holistic wellness. Fortytwo creates a space where employees feel valued and empowered.

Q: How is the company investing in employee wellbeing?

A: We have introduced 24/7 online help support as we really want to make sure that the employees are always supported even after office hours. Not to mention that some might see that going for therapy is a plus and not a must. With Fortytwo, every employee can avail themselves to a monthly session of therapy if required, and the Company will gladly cover the cost. Apart from that, I also believe that healthy minds come also from healthy eating so recently we revamped our weekly lunches and we are trying to offer a more nutritious lunch selection, complimented with fresh fruits. Employees also enjoy weekly in-house yoga to relax and unwind from the day to day. My primary objective in this aspect is to introduce even more as time goes on.

Q: How would you describe Fortytwo’s philosophy in your own words?

A: I would describe Fortytwo’s philosophy as people centric with a continuous commitment to building and maintaining a strong foundation where employees feel supported, valued, and proud to work with Fortytwo. Ultimately, the emphasis on wellbeing ensures that as the company grows, its people thrive right along with it.
