Cisco’s Visual Networking Indexing (VNI) reports that annual global mobile data traffic will increase by 873% from 30 Exabytes in 2014 to 292 Exabytes by 2019.
The increase in mobile traffic will be a result of the growth of mobile users worldwide as well as the growing popularity of wearable devices. It’s predicted that by 2019, there will be 5.2 billion mobile user and 578 million wearable devices.
Apart from these factors, Cisco has noted that wider deployments of M2M applications, combined with faster wireless networks will be significant contributors to the surge in mobile data traffic.
Regionally, the Asia Pacific will see a monthly increase of 9.5 Exabytes, North America 3.8 Exabytes, Western Europe 2.4 Exabytes, Central and Eastern Europe 3.5 Exabytes and Latin America 2 Exabytes by 2019.
