SYSTEMS ENGINEER

We are growing, and we are now looking for a Systems Engineer to build, maintain, and troubleshoot our rapidly expanding infrastructure. Responsibilities:

We are exploring ways to grow our team and in taking ownership of this role, your main areas of responsibility will be:

  • Managing and monitoring systems, both software and hardware.
  • Install, configure, test, and maintain systems.
  • Ensure the highest levels of system availability.
  • Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks.
  • Work with the Quality Assurance and Development teams on bugs and continuous optimisation of systems.
  • Maintain constant backups of mission-critical systems.
  • Provide 2nd level support to our Customer Service team and be part of a periodic “on-call” roster for out of office hours support.
  • Liaise with service providers and external partners for problems related to hardware.
  • 24×7 proactive monitoring and support of the live and pre-production environments where needed.
  • Any other tasks or projects assigned as required from time to time.


Requirements:

  • A diploma or a degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
  • Working experience with UNIX/LINUS operations systems.
  • Solid experience in administration and performance tuning of application stacks (Apache, Nginx, Zabbix, RabbitMQ, and Cassandra).
  • Experience with virtualisation and containerization (VMWare, Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with monitoring systems.
  • Solid networking knowledge (VPN’s, NAT etc.), and scripting skills (Bash, Python).
  • Experience working with automation software such as puppet or chef will be considered an asset.
  • Ability to work within a team as well as on own initiative.
